Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some frequently asked questions. If you can't find the answers you are after below, then please contact me here.
When can I start my sessions?
Session availability can be discussed during the initial 15 minute consultation, but generally, you will be able to start your sessions within 1 week from your consultation (depending on what has been arranged).
What times can I have my sessions?
How often should I have my sessions?
This is up to you as a client! However as a counsellor I would initially suggest weekly, but this can be reviewed periodically.
I need to reschedule
Please give at least 24 hours notice for rescheduling or cancelling sessions. Any sessions rescheduled or cancelled within 24 hours of the session will incur the full session rate. Rebooking will be based on my current availability, this is due to most of my clients having regular weekly sessions, and as you can understand, I have to maintain a fair priority amongst all my clients.
How much do sessions cost?
Sessions are £50 per hour. Concessionary rates are available for students, and a block-booking discount rate is also available. Please contact me for further information.
I feel like I need more sessions?
If you have previously undergone counselling with me, but feel like you would like to carry on, then please don't hesitate to get back in touch. We can arrange more sessions for us to work together! I want to make sure you feel supported, and want you to work at your own pace.
I'm new to therapy, what can I expect?
Once we have had our initial 15 minute conversation, it's then up to you whether you want to start your counselling journey with me. If you decide to go with me, then we will arrange our first session. The first session will include a portion called "contracting".

Contracting allows us to both know what is expected of us, discusses confidentiality, safeguarding, boundaries, professional ethics, and your rights as a client.

Following the contracting, we will begin to explore what has brought you to counselling, and begin to build a rapport. From there it is all about taking it at your own pace, after all you are the expert of your world.
What is the difference between counselling and therapy?
Counselling and therapy are often used interchangeably, there will be hundreds of online definitions in which they vary slightly. However for the purposes of Red Fox Counselling and Psychotherapy, to me it means offering you the help and support that you require to achieve your own personal goals.
How long are my sessions?
The initial consultation will last for 15 minutes. Each phone or online session lasts approximately 45-55 minutes. This allows for the session to end in a natural way, and allows any important session admin to be undertaken immediately. This also ensures that I am always on time, for all of my clients.
